Putin says Russia must stop growth of regions’ loans from banks
MOSCOW, Dec 14 (PRIME) -- The Russian government must stop rampant increase of commercial banks’ lending to regions, President Vladimir Putin said during an annual press conference on Thursday.
“What is very important, from my point of view – this decision has not been made and I have not even talked with the government about it yet – we need to stop the unlimited growth of a frequently unjustified rise of loans of Russian regions from commercial banks at unreasonably high rates,” Putin said.
Regional governors do not take state loans despite lower rates, which is a reason to believe that they collude with commercial banks, Putin said.
